I took photos of this damselfly in the Kralingse Bos woodland area in Rotterdam. There is a part called De Heemtuin. It is a secluded area near the water edge. A lot of people just walk or cycle past it without going in so it is very quiet. An ideal situation for taking photos of these and other animals.
The Emerald Spreadwing or Lestes dryas is a species of damselfly which is found across Europe, Asia and North America. Like the other members of the Lestes genus both sexes of L. dryas have largely metallic green bodies with a bronze iridescence. They usually rest with their wings half spread.
